Entering preschool can be a bewildering experience for a child, particularly if they have never been separated from mother. This is called separation anxiety, not only can the child have issues concerning separation, parents can also have separation issues. Sometimes parents can magnify separation problems and can even create them. This can be a concern for teachers, and caregivers. Parents may harbor pain when leaving a child. Parents may try to sneak away in order not to have to say goodbye to their child, and some linger until the situation becomes unbearable for the parent, child teacher and or caregiver. Once the parent and child get into the daily routine of separating they both find it easier to say their goodbyes. It is not recommended that a parent sneak away, as that will leave the child feeling very insecure. Parents should let the child know they will be returning to pick them up.
