"Yes I Can" and "Yes I Did"
Hard Work And Perseverance Pays Off
Today was an exciting day for the parents and myself. In hind sight the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year brought children who were insecure, lacked confidence, and was apprehensive in expressing thesevles. What a difference a school year can make! My preschoolers have blossomed into secure individuals who's confidence level and verbal skills have exceeded my expectations, not to mention their knowlege base of attaining their basic skills. I am so proud of each and everyone of them. CONGRADULATIONS!
A Massive Attack For Education Is Needed
A massive attack for educating our children is needed.Children should be read to even while in the womb. It is imperative for children to be exposed to literature as early as is possible. This gives children the opportunity to realize books can become their way of escaping to another time and place such as, other countries and cultures, which can also afford them the fun of entering into the land of fantasy. All this can be accomplished through exposure of being read to, giving them a sense of wonder and adventure. When children are read to they begin mimicking what they observe from those who read to them.
Allow Children To Be Children
Through educating children I have observed them not being allowed to be children. Children are losing their sense of wonder and adventure. As parents, and educatiors we must ensure children are given opportunities to experience various activities involving being permitted to have fun without having to worry about soiling their attire. Exposing them to the fun of sliding down a slide, swinging, visiting a farm, going to the theatre and visiting a museum. Many children don't get the opportunity to indulge in these types of outings. Children should have these experiences in order to grow wholelistically. These experiences should not just be given to the child during the school year. Parents have to step up and ensure their children are exposed to these types of environments. I'm not saying the lack of exposure pertains to all parents, but many just don't take the time. It is time for parents to take an interest in their child's education or they will be locked out of a world that will leave them behind. Parents you are an integral part of your child's education.
Dramatic Play
Dramatic play allows children to engage in imaginary or real life scenarios. Costumes and accessories affords the child the opportunity to work through troublesome feelings, initiate in expressing social skills, and increase their ability to communicate clearly. Children can engage in spontaneous activities and fantasies. During this scenario of dramatic play this child informed me she wants to be a firefighter when she grows up.
